Jamie Blanche

Jamie is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London (FGS), member of the Institute of Physics (MInstP), and Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA)

First attaining a BSc (hons) at Heriot Watt University in Physics with Environmental Science in 2003, Jamie acquired upstream petroleum industry experience prior to achieving an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience in 2014, also from Heriot Watt University. Completing his PhD in radar sensing in 2020, Jamie moved to University of Glasgow in 2022 to join the HI-ACT (Hydrogen Integration for Accelerated Energy Transitions) Hub and, later, the TransiT (Twinning for Decarbonising Transport) Hub in 2023. Involved in the successful consultation phases of both projects, Jamie has gained valuable experience in stakeholder engagement and feedback analysis. Jamie’s research focuses on geoscience, geomechanics and non-contact sensing for resource mapping, subsurface storage containment integrity and the integration of these data streams with cyberphysical infrastructures.

Jamie’s geological background and experience with geographic processing tools, such as ArcGIS, will be applied to the DARe project to provide an interface with place-based datasets from both DARe research and parallel research initiatives, such as the HI-ACT and TransiT projects. This confluence of research streams will enhance our modelling capability and the strategic decision-making benefits offered by cyberphysical systems.
