Jingyan is a Research Associate in Urban Modelling. She obtained her PhD in Transport Studies from the University of Leeds and has further advanced her research on the spatial structure of global urban expansion through positions at the University of Surrey and the University of Lausanne. Her work leverages geospatial data science and quantitative methods like machine learning—to elucidate complex urban growth patterns. Proficient in GIS analysis and geocomputation using Python, Jingyan remains committed to exploring innovative trends in urban analytics.

Focus on DARe
Jingyan develops urban land use change models that integrate climate change effects into urban expansion processes. Through the development of the Urban Development Model (UDM), she simulates future urban spatial development scenarios, contributing to DARe’s efforts in assessing how shifting transport demands and emerging infrastructure vulnerabilities interact under evolving climatic conditions.
