Matthew Burke

Research Assistant

Matthew Burke

Matthew’s recent research explores the feasibility of implementing new technologies within transport and its potential to decarbonise travel, including electric shared mobility hubs and autonomous vehicles.

Matthew’s UKRI EPSRC funded PhD investigated the changes in daily travel patterns of road traffic and active travel flows in the post-pandemic era, with a particular interest in the effect of installing low traffic neighbourhoods.

Before completing his PhD, Matthew worked as a transport consultant within the development planning sector and is keen to draw from his experience of the planning process and tasks such as conducting public consultations to understand the relevant challenges faced when decarbonising, adapting and increasing the resilience of the transport network to climate change.
