Webinar - From Data to Decarbonisation: Confronting the Challenges for Road & Rail

Event Information

  • Location:
    Online
  • Date and Time:
    Monday 4 March 11:30 – 12:30 GMT

“Data is the new oil”, but our reliance on a carbon-based transport system must be quashed. Climate change already poses significant threats to the entire of the UK’s transport infrastructure: from our cyber and physical infrastructure, vehicles, and supply chains, to the health and livelihoods of communities. To achieve a climate-resilient and decarbonised road and rail system, we must harness the power of data to inform decision-making and planning, better understand risks and vulnerabilities, and guide us towards a net zero future. But how exactly do we do that?

Professor Phil Blythe CBE, DARe Hub Director, is joined by a panel of speakers from the DARe team with diverse backgrounds in transport:

  • Dr Alistair Ford – Senior Lecturer in Geospatial Data Analytics and School X Climate Fellow, Newcastle University
  • Dan Clarke – Head of Innovation and Technology, Greater Cambridge Partnership
  • Professor Hayley Fowler – Professor of Climate Change Impacts and Director of the Centre for Climate and Environmental Resilience, Newcastle University
  • Dr Keith Bowers – Engineering Director with COWI in UK, and Project Director for Tunnels on the Lower Thames Crossing
  • Tobyn Hughes – Managing Director, Transport North East

We hope you can join us for this webinar. All are welcome, please do share this invite with your networks.
