In November, the DARe Hub attended the UKRI Building a Green Future (BaGF) Project Conference.
Building a Green Future is one of UKRI’s five strategic themes, designed to accelerate the UK’s move toward a secure and prosperous green economy by 2050. Through interdisciplinary research and innovation, the theme supports efforts to achieve net zero, tackle climate change, and grow sustainable industries. UKRI currently invests over £800 million annually in projects that address these challenges, spanning technologies, infrastructure, and societal solutions.
The event brought together project teams from across the UKRI BaGF portfolio – including the National Hub for Decarbonised, Adaptable, Resilient Transport Infrastructures (DARe) – to share insights, foster collaboration, and strengthen the research and innovation community driving the UK’s green transition.
The BaGF portfolio includes 38 projects across 10 programmes, all working toward shared goals of reducing carbon emissions, protecting biodiversity, and enabling a fair and resilient transition. The BaGF Project Conference provided an opportunity for DARe to connect with other funded projects, exchange best practices, and explore collaborative approaches to stakeholder engagement and knowledge sharing.
Our transport systems must transform to increase resilience to a changed and changing climate – we need to adapt existing infrastructure, and design new infrastructure in more resilient, low carbon ways that recognise interconnections and interdependencies, including with other systems and sectors.
The DARe Hub endeavours to address this in our research and is proud to contribute to important conversations and exchanges like this event, helping to advance the collective mission of building a greener future.
