Dr Omar Hamza, lead of the DARe Flex Fund project 'Economic Impact of Proactive Adaptation vs Reaction Inaction in UK Rail Infrastructure', has presented findings from the project at two major international transport conferences.
Researchers from DARe's community presented 8 papers at the inaugural ICE Resilient Transport Conference in Manchester, September 2026, where nearly 200 people came together for knowledge exchange across academia, industry, and government.
This work demonstrates how agent-based models can simulate transport disruptions by capturing highly detailed, individual-level travel behaviours, enabling faster and more accurate forecasting to support improved emergency planning, infrastructure resilience, and transit management decisions.
The first cohort of projects supported through DARe’s Flexible Funding scheme successfully completed, marking an important milestone for the programme.
DARe is delighted to announce the launch of its third Flexible Funding Call, opening up new opportunities for UK academics to work with DARe and its stakeholders to help shape the future of adaptable and climate resilient transport infrastructure.
DARe took part in an event focussing on Climate Adaptation in Local Transport, where Hub Co-Director Professor Schooling gave an overview of the innovative DARe Transport Performance & Risk Analysis Framework (TPRAF).
DARe hosted a stakeholder workshop in Manchester with colleagues from Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), bringing together transport sector experts to explore climate adaptation for urban transport systems.
The third DARe Funder and Arm’s‑Length Body (ALB) Workshop, held in London, gathered representatives from UKRI EPSRC, the UK Department for Transport, Network Rail, National Highways, and HS2 Ltd, alongside members of the DARe team.
DARe’s expert input has helped shape the DfT’s Climate Adaptation Strategy for Transport 2025, which features the Hub's Transport Performance & Risk Analysis Framework (TPRAF).
